From noon to midnight on April 26, we're pleased to invite you to attend "A Clay Sermon," a one-time-only durational performance by Theaster Gates, the Black Monks, and friends at the Stony Island Arts Bank.
For this twelve-hour experimental and improvisational performance, Theaster Gates transports his clay studio to the atrium of the Arts Bank, transforming the space into an active ceramics workshop, demonstrating the craft and performance of clay through a series of improvisational sonic responses and sermonic vignettes.
In lieu of a formal gala, all proceeds from this performance will benefit Rebuild’s programming and our work at the forthcoming project at the former St. Laurence Elementary School. If you would like to donate additional funds on top of your admission Specialty cocktails will be available courtesy of CasaDragones.
Guests are welcome to arrive at any point in the performance, though we encourage staying as long as schedules allow to witness the event in its durational intention. Out of respect for the performers and guests around you, we kindly ask that you limit any personal capture of this performance to photo only. Videos will not be permitted.
